Hon. Lester Danny Mersai

Speaker

Hon. Lester Danny Mersai has served the people of District 3 in the Chuuk State House of Representatives since 2014, building a distinguished legislative career that has seen him rise to the highest office in the chamber. Born on April 15, 1982, he brings energy, experience, and a deep commitment to the welfare of Chuukese communities to his role as Speaker.

First elected to the House in 2014, Hon. Mersai quickly established himself as an effective legislator, serving as Chairman of the Health and Welfare Committee and later the Judiciary and Governmental Operations Committee before being appointed Floor Leader in 2019. As Speaker, Hon. Mersai oversees the proceedings of the 28-member House, sets the legislative agenda, and represents the House in its dealings with the Senate, the Governor, and other branches of government. He also serves as a member of the Ways and Means Committee and the Education Committee.

Beyond the Legislature, Hon. Mersai serves as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Pacific Islands Development Bank, where he leads regional efforts in financial development and economic cooperation across the Pacific.
