WENO, Chuuk (July 8, 2026) — The House of Representatives of the Eighteenth Chuuk State Legislature held a Joint Committee Hearing to review the proposed Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 Local Revenue Budget.
-Official notice issued by the Joint Committee on Ways and Means and the Judiciary & Governmental Operations (J&GO) Committee, the hearing took place on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. in the House Chamber at the Chuuk State Legislature in Weno.
-The committees requested the attendance of several senior officials from the Executive Branch and key government agencies to provide testimony and information regarding the proposed budget. Those invited include representatives from the Office of the Governor, the Division of Budget and Finance, the Election Commission, the Attorney General’s Office, the Public Service Commission, the Office of the Public Auditor, and the Department of Administrative Services.
The hearing will focus on the FY 2027 Proposed Budget (Local Revenue), as lawmakers begin deliberations on funding priorities for the upcoming fiscal year. Committee leaders emphasized that the presence of the invited officials is essential to assist legislators in their review and decision-making process.
The notice was jointly Called by Hon. Jessy P. William, Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, and Hon. Richiosy Chipen, Chairman of the J&GO Committee.
The joint hearing marks an important step in the Legislature’s budget review process, providing lawmakers with the opportunity to examine revenue projections, departmental funding requests, and fiscal priorities before the FY 2027 budget is considered for approval.
